You know what I’m talking about. It’s all over instagram! Skin care WITH OUT “benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid“. But what does that even mean? What has benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid ever done to me for me to banish them from my life?
Just to start us off, let me tell you about my skin.
Dry. Dry, flakey patches. I get the occasional pimple every now and then and have an issue with redness on the cheeks but apart from that, nothing really wrong with my skin. (Okay so maybe those problems make it seem like the is a lot wrong with my skin hehe). With such sensitive skin, I can’t use soap on my face. When I look for a cleanser, I need something gentle. Something that cleanses but doesn’t extract every last drop of oil from my face and leave it even drier than it was before.
Let me introduce you to the Real-U skin care routine – after 30 years of creating and perfecting. There are 3 steps – Cleanse, Control and Hydrate.
This cleanser is very gentle on the skin. I use this both with my hands and with my Spin which makes it foam. This cleanser can also be used as a brush cleaner – I use it for the brush heads of my Spin too!
The product itself comes out transluscent and you don’t need a lot. After washing my face with this in the shower or after I brush my teeth, I move onto 2.
So this is a face gel that I use as a serum. It’s very hydrating and a little goes a long way here too. I like to use this more at night than in the mornings, or under makeup.
Then the final step is to moisturise and put back all the moisture the cleanser extracted. With my dry skin I prefer a heavy moisturiser and don’t mind if my skin is left with a bit of grease when I touch it. This one was a bit too light for my liking, but I like to be able to feel the moist (ew) – ness. Moisturiser is very important to me as I don’t wear foundation daily and rely on my skin to cooperate!
Something people seem to overlook nowadays is the importance of skin care. I have had several messages from people asking me how to cover pimples, or how to get foundation to apply smoothly and they are always in search of different concealers or primers. BUT, it all starts with your skin. Make-up accentuates the features you already have – both good and bad. This means we HAVE to look after our base! SKINCARE PEOPLE, SKINCARE!
Now back to the first question – what is wrong with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. They’ve actually issued a warning against these two products that are prominent in acne products!! Not putting THAT on my FACE!!
The Real-U range felt so gentle on my skin and over time, reduced the redness of my skin. And it is very reasonably priced. They have christmas sets at the moment so get on it! Not only are the products amazing but the team at Real-U are great too. They are always happy to answer any questions you may have and offer advice on taking care of your skin.
Let me know if you try it out! 🙂
